Discrimination in Result in Grading System

Discrimination in Result in Grading System

The 2001(SSC) and 2003(HSC) batch are really in dilemma with their result, they can't convert their result in grading system nor division system. The number of student got A+ or GPA 5.0 in 2001 was only 76 but it exceed to 41,797 in 2008 result. And same discrimination found in 2003 HSC. It doesn't mean that student of 2001-2003 batch are not talent. It is a great mistake of Education Ministry Authority. Initially teachers were evaluating test script as Division based result, that why this batch got lower GPA. Another reason, grading of fourth subject was added to their GPA. That's why they were lagging behind.

A group of Dhaka University students who passed their SSC examinations in 2001, 2002 and 2003 and completed HSC exams in 2003 demanded issuing of a circular from the education ministry converting grade point average (GPA) of SSC and HSC levels into first division, second division and third division.

They placed the demand at a press conference at Dhaka University Journalists' Association at Teacher-Student Centre on the campus.

They demanded the ministry convert GPA from 3.50 to above out of five as first division, GPA from 2.50 to 3.49 as second division and GPA from 2.49 to its below as third division.

The students alleged that they are now facing discrimination in job market as they achieved low GPA than the students have achieved higher one in recent years as they were in first batch of the GPA system in the country.

They said they are now unfit to apply for jobs in corporate houses as the houses in their advertisements convert GPA 4.25 out of 5 as second division and GPA 4.50 as first division.
